December 2016 – Abu Dhabis’ Khalifa University relies on erfi technology!
Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi focuses on innovation and research. The university is setting new standards in information and communication technology, aerospace, logistics, environmental technology and healthcare. In order to accommodate the growing influx of students, the university’s current campus will be expanded by 132,000 square meters by the end of the year.
erfi is equipping the majority of the new classrooms, laboratories and research facilities with technical workstations. Almost 100 desks with various technical details will be installed here for students and lecturers. This equipment will provide students on site with one of the most future-proof and technologically advanced working and learning environments. Khalifa University has set itself the goal of being the country’s center for creativity and innovation and the starting point for the development of the region’s future.
The laboratories
There are a total of 7 rooms, each with 14 tables for students and one table for the lecturer. The rooms are the labs:
- Senior Design Lab and Digital Embedded Lab,
- Dynamics and Control Lab
- Network and Software Lab
- Power Lab, Project Lab and Telecom Lab;
The furnishings
All tables are equipped with the sensor-controlled RGB LED workstation light and the RGB LED indication light from erfi. Each table of the elneos® connect series is electrically height-adjustable and equipped with the erfi-bridge. This enables the highest level of ergonomic requirements at the workplace. The majority of the tables are double-equipped and can be used by two students. In addition to the laboratory furniture and test equipment, “all-in-one PCs” have also been installed. The table system and the entire seating is designed in ESD and thus meets the standards for electronics laboratories.
The equipment
All laboratory benches are networked with each other and all bench functions and devices can be controlled remotely using the web-based software. The equipment is realized in elneos® five and thanks to the compact and space-saving design of elneos® five, the laboratories could be equipped with the highest performance.
The equipment includes the following devices:
- Double graphic power arbitrary generator 0-30V/5A,
- Power, energy and digital multimeter,
- Fast signal arbitrary waveform generator,
- web server,
- variable transformer,
- Safety and switching unit,
- oscilloscope,
- soldering stations and
- fixed voltage sources 2 x 5V/5A and 2 x 12V/5A.
High-end for the future
Khalifa University deliberately opted for the quality of erfi. It was important to the university that the laboratories were future-proof, networked, efficient and ergonomic. By equipping the new laboratories with elneos® five and elneos® connect in the system, they have the most future-proof and powerful technology in the industry.
